Using student strategies to promote learning

The reSolve Protocol emphasises the importance of developing a knowledge-building culture in the classroom. A key aspect of that is to build on students' strategies and solutions as part of inquiry learning in mathematics.

The goals of the module include that participating teachers will:

  • Consider the importance of mathematical discussions and the contribution they make to learning;
  • Examine seven practices for orchestrating mathematical discussions;
  • Use student work samples to synthesise the practices; and
  • Consider the implications for their own practice.
