Year 2 - Spatial Reasoning: Reasoning with 2D shapes (Trial)

Australian curriculum number (ACMMG042; ACMMG045; ACMMG046)

Who is this Sequence for?

This sequence is for Year 2 students who have had some experience with common two-dimensional shapes, specifically triangles and quadrilaterals.

Summary of learning goals

This sequence starts with a task that focuses on developing students’ knowledge of the properties of triangles and quadrilaterals, including trapeziums and rhombuses. They apply their knowledge of properties to identify shapes that may not fit more common representations. Students then move to work with transformations of two-dimensional shapes, specifically using flips and turns. Students will learn to work systematically to find all the possible solutions to the task.
